Download Bugback.

Bugback is signed with a Developer ID and notarized by Apple, so macOS opens it without a warning.

Version 1.0.4, 6.2 MB, for Macs with Apple Silicon and macOS 13 or newer.

Before you install

  • Intel Macs are not supported yet.
  • Windows and Linux are planned. The Mac comes first.
  • You need to be able to allow Screen Recording in System Settings.

Set up in a minute.

  1. Open the download and drag Bugback to Applications.

    Then open it from there.

  2. Allow screen recording.

    Bugback opens a window that takes you to System Settings. Turn Bugback on under Screen & System Audio Recording, then come back. It may ask to restart once.

  3. Turn on What you did, if you want the steps.

    It is off until you choose. In Settings, pick clicks, clicks and shortcuts, or everything. macOS will ask once to let Bugback see clicks and keys. The list then appears in the review window and goes into the ticket.

  4. Press ⇧⌘H when you hit a bug.

    The last minute is saved and the review window opens. Change the shortcut, the length and the screen in Settings.

  5. Connect Jira when you are ready.

    In Settings, under Jira. You can use Bugback without it and save clips on your Mac.
